As part of our study into virtual working in the pandemic we have also been collecting data on “brain balance”. This is the balance in one’s emotional needs. Emotional needs are defined as basic human needs that all human beings need for survival and their fulfillment leads to an increase in well-being and violation or non-fulfilment leads to a decrease in well-being.

The surprising results are that, in contrast to other studies, mental health, as measured by emotional needs fulfillment, seems to be high! In fact, better than comparable data  from 2017.

SCOAP, emotional needs, is our core theory and you can read about it in our academic paper here.
